FAQs

Please complete our ‘Book a tutor’ form and one of our team will get in contact with you to discuss your options and requirements.

Before a tutor is assigned to your student, our experienced team will arrange an online (or over the phone) consultation meeting with both parents and child to assess the need for a tutor, and where your child is struggling.

We will assess the academic situation, as well as, get to know the student a little so that we can ensure a strong match with a great tutor whom they look forward to working with. Many factors impact how students perform in school including missing or weak academic foundations, lack of ability to understand how best to organise homework, the learning style of the child, and other outside influences. The consultation helps us understand all of these factors. We will also work the client to establish goals and expectations for the tuition sessions, prior to making a recommendation on an appropriate enrolment.

We do offer online tutoring when this is the most appropriate method of delivering tuition by the best tutor for your student.

Our team of tutors are fully qualified teachers each with a minimum 10-15 years of experience; who are deputy head teachers, heads of departments, key stage holders and others who have expertise in the subject area. The two things they all have in common are that they are experts in their respective academic subjects and they are passionate about helping student’s succeed.

Yes, our tutors will give their availability before we match with the student.  Weekdays will be after school and weekends will be agreed with the tutor on an ad hoc basis.  Our tutors are full time teachers so times will depend on location for in person tutoring.

During the consultation, our team will discuss scheduling constraints and work with the family to determine the best schedule for the sessions.

The frequency of tutoring sessions is determined by the age of the student, what their current grades are, and their learning style. Our team will discuss these details at the consultation.

Each lesson is usually one hour, and classes are taught live, online by an experienced and dedicated tutor, who will explain and impart material through use of a virtual whiteboard.

With younger students at 11 Plus level or below, lessons are sometimes shorter than 1 hour.

The frequency of lessons may vary from student to student, depending on their needs and whether they're studying for exams or not.

Maths Coach Academy tutors do not provide homework help. They aim to catch students up in their learning. They will often add some lesson activities during the session on topics your child is currently completing at school. This will ensure the student does not get further behind and also builds the child’s confidence to operate in the classroom environment.

All children progress at a different rate and improvement in grades is affected by many factors including the consistency of the tutoring sessions, how far behind the student might be as tutoring commences, and the commitment of the student themselves. Quite often, early indicators such as increased confidence and a more positive attitude about school present themselves prior to increases in grades. You can however discuss this in more detail with your Maths Coach Academy tutor.

From experience, we know that the longer your child attends their Maths Coach Academy tutoring, the greater the impact on results and learning confidence, however, we do understand there may be reasons to pause or withdraw from tutoring. It is our recommendation that you discuss this directly with your tutor. In general, Maths Coach Academy requires two weeks written notice of your intention to withdraw from tutoring.

Maths Coach Academy prides itself on providing the best quality staff to tutor your child however if you have any queries regarding the service or tutor, please contact us using the Contact Us form or email – contact@mathscoachacademy.co.uk

During the consultation, our team may provide formal and informal assessments depending on the academic situation.
